In late 2009, the Grundy County Historical Society embarked on an ambitious program to provide the region with a center devoted to the history and culture of the people and communities of the South Cumberland Plateau.  Three interconnected buildings were purchased in order to provide for 1) a Library & Research Center, 2) Assembly Hall and Media Center, and 3) an Exhibit Hall.  This project would also include the preservation of the historic 1904 First National Bank Building.

As of mid-2011, the Library & Research center is complete and open 5 days a week.  The Exhibit Hall is approximately 50% complete but is open for tours - pardon our construction.  There is significant restoration work underway in the Assembly Hall (1904 Bank Building) with work to be completed by late 2011.
